Daniel Kueblboeck is a young German vocalist. He was one of the finalists in the Casting Show called "Deutschland sucht den
Superstar" (Germany is looking for its superstar). With his way of singing and his fancy looks, he became a STAR for other young people.
He had suffered from his protruding ears since childhood. When he got famous some photographers even taped them back during photo shootings.
Because of the high risks of the traditional methods, he never wanted to have them operated on, but with Dr Merck's stitch method he could finally realise his dream.

I've read that Daniel had otoplasty. Who operated on him?

As far as I know, the operation was done in a special ear clinic in Majorca. Why don't you ask Sat1; they broadcasted something about it in October.

Dear Angela,

In October, I operated on Mr Küblböck with my stitch method. The operation went without any complications. Mr. Küblböck was able to show his ears in a television broadcast on Sat1 only 5 days after the operation. The viewers could see that he was not wearing a bandage. This is the same for all of my patients. There were no signs of the operation. In contrast to this, a small boy was shown, who had had otoplasty with the traditional method in Berlin. He had to wear a bandage, as you have to with this method. In addition to that, his mother reported that he was suffering from bad pain after the operation, which is also common with this method. In contrast to that, Daniel had only had a small, momentary throbbing in the ear, which had been exaggerated in an irresponsible and incomprehensible way by Prof. Mang, as a sign of a heavy infection.
Daniel said to this: "Without the gentle method invented by Dr. Merck I wouldn't have dared to have had this done. Dr. Merck promised me before the operation that everything would be painless and he kept his promise. Otoplasty used to be a big operation, and often with complications. Thanks to Dr. Merck these times are over, thank God. So be courageous! It is a hard decision to make to have plastic surgery, but I advise anyone suffering from their protruding ears to do it. I am so happy with my new ears and feel like a new person."

For anyone interested in the operation with Daniel Küblböck, here the article of TOP MAGAZINE 4,19, winter 2005:

Gentle otoplasty for jug ears ? now available in Majorca

TV show star Daniel Küblböck is first patient ? German specialist Dr. Merck opened European Ear Correction Clinic

Huge media hype in Majorca: TV youth star Daniel Küblböck had his protruding ears fixed "gently" in front of cameras. The spectacular media show actually has a serious backround: A lot of people suffer from their "Dumbo" ears. Up to now one had to have a difficult, invasive operation to correct this flaw. But this has changed.

Daniel Küblböck was very satisfied. Only a few days after the successful surgery the 20 year-old singer from the talent show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar (the equivalent to "American Idol") said: "I am completely happy."
"I should have done this a lot earlier. Since my childhood I have suffered from my jug ears, but I never dared to have an operation."

In Majorca, specialist Dr. Waldemar Merck from Constanze, Germany, opened the first European ear clinic as well as an academy for further education for doctors wishing to learn about the gentle otoplasty. Daniel Küblböck was the first patient to have his jug ears operated in a spectacular live operation in the MallorClinic near Cala Blava. In contrast to usual operations, the worldwide new Dr. Merck Stitch Method does not involve cutting. The ear is brought nearer to the head with an invisible thread under the skin. The operation, for which only a local anaesthetic is needed, takes about 40 minutes. The patient has the possibility to watch the operation in a mirror and to determine the position of his "new" ears. Adults as well as children who suffer from jug ears can now have the surgery alongside their holidays on the popular Balearic Islands. After one day they are up and about. It is advisable for children to have the otoplasty before their school enrolment. Up to the age of 11 they receive general anaesthesia.

"I feel great, I'm doing fine and I have no pain," said Küblböck a few days after the gentle operation, thus denying rumours of the press as to whether the operation had really been successful.

Specialist Dr. Merck has performed over 5.000 successful ear corrections with the "Dr. Merck New Ear Correction Method", which he developed. This correction lasts a lifetime and is hardly visible, even for experts. A new statistic claims that almost every third German suffers from "Dumbo" ears. "The opinion that most people get used to their protruding ears in the course of time is wrong," says Dr. Merck. "They just stop talking about it and they fear the common, dangerous operations where cartilage is freed and removed surgically."

In addition to the ear clinic, a medical academy has been founded in Majorca. Specialists can get training in the gentle Dr. Merck's stitch method. "Our goal is clear," says Dr. Merck, "we want to help as many people as possible with a quick operation without fear or complications."
