Hello Dr Merck,
After the procedure how long will the ears be swollen or look red? Is it okay to take medication after the procedure designed to reduce swelling or is this not necessary? Im planning on taking 7 or 8 days off from work and am hoping my ears will look normal when I return, is this quite possible do you think?
thank you. |

Dear Zimmy,
Right after the operation, your ear will be slightly red and will have very small blue spots. Both will disappear the day after the operation. After the 3rd day the swelling will diminish very quickly. After one week you cannot see anything anymore.
It's not necessary to take drugs to reduce swelling. I will give you something for the pain and some antibiotics for 3 days.
Kind regards,
Priv. Doz. dr. med. W. Merck |
