The academy was founded in October 2005 in the Malloclinic in Majorca. Its purpose is to train doctors who would like to learn the "Dr. Merck Stitch Method" for otoplasty. After the training, a certificate is awarded, documenting that professional training in the Stitch Method has been completed and the doctor is capable of correctly practising it.
The foundation of the academy is a reaction to the fact that several doctors have been claiming to know or use the Stitch Method - but, in fact, are practising the old Mustardé method or one of its variants. The Dr. Merck Stitch Method has absolutely nothing to do with this method. By offering doctors training in my method, I hope to avoid its false practice, something which sheds a negative light on my innovation.
Anyone who wants to be truly certain that they are receiving the Dr. Merck Stitch Method should request to see the certificate proving that my training was completed.
